More than just the numbers, ABS-CBN and GMA Pictures have come together not just for a movie but for a cause given the massive success of the film worldwide.

The film has been a runaway success, breaking multiple records since its release. On Nov. 16, it raked in an unprecedented P131 million in a single day, and on Nov. 18, its total earnings soared to P566 million.

Internationally, the movie is making history as well. Now showing in over 1,000 theaters worldwide, it earned $2.32 million in its North American opening weekend, becoming the highest-grossing Filipino film debut in the region.

It even secured the eighth spot among North America’s weekend top-grossing films.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, the follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster brings Bernardo and Richards back as Joy and Ethan, continuing their story from Hong Kong to Canada. The duo is currently in the United States to promote the film.

A well-executed marketing strategy broadened the film’s appeal, focusing on Filipino American audiences while also capturing the interest of Asian American, Hispanic and mainstream movie-goers.
